Geartopia is a steampunk themed planet plot starting the 20th and ending the 31st! The planet leave is not mandatory and, in fact, your characters are more than welcome to come in for a few days and then go back to the ship after checking the place out.
This will be my first solo-run plot so we'll see how that goes!
As in itself, it's a shore leave to a cowboy-steampunk land. Geartopia was built a long time ago by aliens visiting the planet and granting intelligence to some native species. You can find a few remains of their culture scattered around the land in the form of large stone carvings. The carvings also serve as guardians of the place - once a character enters the planet, they are only allowed to visit the main town and surrounding area before they find themselves stopped by an invisible force field (there are other smaller towns, but they are far and few in between).
Technology is steampunk with a cowboy flare; There are trains, horses, chariots, lots of gears and dark clothing. The inhabitants are mostly humans, humanoid animals and
alien natives and steampunk robots. The technology the elder aliens left them allows for contact with Stacy but otherwise there is nothing futuristic going on on the planet - the aliens wanted it this way and for the most part the population respects this.
And therein is the trouble.
Nomalanga, the town's mayoress, asks them for their aid in helping her save her country from the evil dealings of
Snidley Pridlash who wishes to take the town over and begin to deconstruct the elder alien technology to start to conquer the stars. The crew accepts and gets sent down to a world that looks like cowboys and robots got mixed together in a blender.
Your characters can just goof around the town and do the following things;
- Practice riding the
robot horses- Enjoying what a Wild Wild West City could offer them; booze, card games, public baths and a tiny festival.
- Travel into the wildlands and converse with the
Wild Ones, creatures made of plants who are natives of the land and live in harmony with the town. At least, if the crew successfully saves the mayoress from the plot Snidley has organized...
The shore leave will have a multitude of mini-plots that can either be won by the players or lost depending on how they do. Each one will change the course of how this world ends up and the townspeople characters react! I will accept signups until Monday Night, and then I will roulette whoever is interested. However, as noted above, you can just have your characters having fun in a cowboy world and checking out the sights.
For those interested in doing missions, there will be the following during the one week and a half course;
♣
"In Her Mayoress' Honor" Uncover three clues that prove Snidley Pridelash is preparing an evil scheme to kill off the mayoress.
(Mini - plot for 4 people) The clues will be found in a haunted cavern and will include a fighting part so the team should include at least one detective and someone who's able to fight off wild creatures (they are a mystery). Proving that Snidley is up to something will improve town moral with the entire crew and award the entire team 1 barrel of ale each (To do what they will with it) and . The plot will start as soon as the entire group is set on the planet, so you should be available starting Wednesday and ready to do some fast tagging. This is because the mission is timed, after three days, it will end in failure.
♥
"A Simple Game of Blackjack" Play a card game against some goons to get them to leave town in disgrace. The game will be open to
three people (Han is already signed up). There might be a brawl if the characters win on either side. Alternately, the characters involved stand to loose most of their spending money for the trip. Win, and they get free booze, and the best rooms at the nearby hotel and uh...free entertainment if they so desire.
♠
"Shoot to Win" Following the results of In Her Mayoress' Honor, the town will be attacked by goons. Should they have proven she is going to be attacked, they will get backup (lowering the overall danger level of the mission to maximum 4 on the scale), otherwise it will be a pretty bloody gunfight (Maximum 8 on the damage scale). This will end with a single epic gunfight standoff between a goon and one of the crew members. Anyone who can shoot a gun and not die is invited to participate in the shoot-off. The shoot-off is open only to characters who
CANONLY can shoot guns, and, again,
only one person will be picked for the standoff. The winner gets the goon's
prized shootgun as a souvenir.
♦
"Kidnapped!" Three people will be kidnapped by Snidley's goons during the gunfight, along with the mayoress. Do you ever dreamed of having your characters tied up on the traintracks? NOW'S YOUR CHANCE! Punchy is already signed up for this, so there are two slots opened for grabs. Keep in mind that Punchy will be badly hurt during their interrogation. Also traintracks.
♣
"Rescued!" While the town licks its wounds from the shootout,
a team of six will be sent to stop Snidley himself. The team will include Lash. There will be a
giant spider battle.
♥
"Trampled?" And while the rescue efforts are going on, a herd of wild
Shepofalant will head straight to the town, in no way a sinister plot caused by anyone! That would be silly. mission has no set people, the idea is to stop the trampling animals and saving people.
♠ The plot is for players who want to join in and is not mandatory. However! Any character that joins will be given by the mayoress as part of her exchange bartering price, one
cowboy hat (all brown), one pair of
steampunk goggles, a
steampunk vest, and, most importantly, one part of leathersnake
steampunk boots. This is a gift for anyone who is just visiting to blend with the locals and to prove she's honest about her dealings.
Those that are part of the plots will also get additional boons, including weapons, pants and more clothing, a kiss from the mayor, etc.
If Snidley is disposed of, the Mayoress promises to give the crew a herd of Shepofalant and Turtiagoa, and more if the teams do really well.
Shepofalant: A cross between sheep, buffalo, goat and llamas, the Shepofalant can climb large mountains and live in very short supplies of...just about anything offered to them. Six iron stomachs, they spend most of their lives chewing food. They can survive on the ship's slop, meaning they do not take up extra resources. They breed two times a year (in RP gametime) and have one to three babies per birth.
Turtiagoa: These look like turtles and bunnies crossed together. A popular method of cooking them is to turn the shell over over a fire and to steam the creature in its own shell, much like a lobster. They taste like sweet rabbit meat, and can also survive on the slop. They, however, breed
six time a year, and have liters of five to twenty creatures. It is advised not to let them breed to much...
So who's ready for some steampunk?
